Our preliminary work

Hartley Audience Theory

Hartley expands on Burton's classification of social groupings; he identifies 7 areas of grouping. If your product applys to any of these audiences then you have already identified a more specific audience and should work towards. According to Hartley's theories our product is aimed at a age based audience so we should try to get opinions of younger people to see what they want to see.

Burton's Theory

Burton's theory indentifies the differences between the two audiences. One being socially grouped audiences - audiences grouped by gender, age, race and ethnicity etc - and the media grouped audiences like computer gamers and film buffs etc.I believe our media product will fall across both Burton's specifications of audiences. This is because we are aiming specifically at a younger generation; and at more specific moviego-ers than general media consumers.

Introduction

My Group and I made our decision to make a film because we'd already had an idea for a film in our head and had already storyboarded an intro of the film. There are 4 of us in my group; Dan Gould, Josh Trayling, Jaahid Ahmed and myself, and all of us have agreed on our idea. We also chose this idea because it's something new. Working in a group will make it easier to make the film as there are more of us to gain ideas from. Next, i will need to start filming my preliminary task and also start planning our film, our film is a comedy adventure about a group of teenagers who travel back in time with their time travelling closet/cupboard. We will learn about camera work and editing as we work.
